Debut Card Submissions

This page outlines how to add or revise a debut card in the database.

What You Can Submit

  • A completely new entity (person, character, franchise, brand, or IP) that does not yet appear on the site.
  • An earlier known card for an entity already listed.
  • Stronger evidence, clearer images, or corrected information for an existing entry.
  • Previously undocumented variants, promotional issues, or regional releases that may qualify as the earliest known card.

We focus on non-sports subjects. Edge cases are welcome if they are of clear interest to collectors of character, entertainment, or IP cards.

What to Include in Your Submission

The more complete and verifiable your submission is, the faster we can review it. Please provide as many of the following as possible:

Required

  • Full name of the entity (and any common alternate names or spellings).
  • A clear description of the card or set you believe is the earliest known example (year or approximate date, manufacturer/set name if known, and what makes it a “card”).
  • The Title or Series they belong to
  • Links, screenshots, or references that support the claim (eBay sold listings, TCDB entries, social media posts, catalog scans, advertisements, etc.).

Strongly Recommended

    • High-quality images of the front and back of the card (or the best available photos).
    • Any known catalog numbers, checklist information, or release context.
    • Why you believe this is earlier than other known examples. (if multiple cards are known from within a small time frame)
    • Your preferred credit or username if the submission is accepted (optional).

How to Submit

You can send your request via email (include “New Submission” or “Revision” in the subject line).

Please keep submissions focused and organized. A single clear message with the key facts and supporting links is far more useful than multiple scattered posts.

What Happens After You Submit

  1. We acknowledge receipt (usually within a few days).
  2. The submission is reviewed against our Research Methodology standards.
  3. We conduct additional independent searches to verify or expand on the evidence you provided.
  4. If the entity or card meets the criteria, it is added or updated on the site. You will be notified and credited if you requested it.
  5. If more information is needed, we will reply with specific questions.

Not every submission will result in an immediate addition. Some claims require further evidence or turn out to be later than existing documented examples. In those cases we will explain the decision and keep the information on file for future reference.

Tips for Strong Submissions

  • Prioritize primary evidence (photos of the physical card, contemporaneous ads, or sales records with dates) over second-hand claims.
  • Include direct links whenever possible.
  • If the card is rare or from a private collection, clear photos and context still help enormously.
  • One well-documented claim is better than several vague ones.

Thank you for helping build a more accurate and complete record of the earliest known non-sports cards. Every verified submission improves the resource for the entire collecting community.
